Rear-side flail mowers
KB14 (1,40 m) Z017/1

A flail mower is a machine mounted on the rear side of the tractor that enables the mowing work behind the tractor/ at the side of the tractor with the possibility of avoiding obstacles, in ditches as well as on embankments. The mower is also capable of cutting bushes.
The product meets the essential requirements of the EU directives

The equipment:
• hammers,
• supporting slides
• horizontal roller to adjust the cutting height,
• opposite blades,
• protections compliant with CE,
• adjustable tensioner,
• hydraulic lateral and angular movement,
• gearing with a clutch.

Machine description:

  • It is a mid-range machine for use in average conditions for both agricultural and municipal companies.
The following design features attest to its high execution quality, durability and usability:
  • replaceable slides made of RAEX 400 wear-resistant steel,
  • solid body made of wear-resistant steel,
  • solid thick-walled working shaft with a diameter of 170 mm, to which 20 flail blades are attached,
  • a 190 mm diameter following roller with variable position (cutting height adjustment),
  • it is mounted as a standard on the tractor's three-point suspension system, both rear and front,
  • a robust bevel gearbox transmitting drive to the working shaft, equipped with a one-way clutch as a standard,
  • by moving the gearing to the outside of the mower, it is possible to use the entire width of the mower when mowing ditches,
  • hydraulic safety protection to protect the machine from damage when hitting an obstacle,
  • possibility to mow surfaces with an inclination of -65° to 90°,
  • mowing of weeds, grasses and bushes of up to 50 mm in diameter on undeveloped areas, in average working conditions,
  • additional two counter-knives inside the body to help shred the mowed material,
  • use of a robust bearing system of the flail shaft manufactured by SKF,
  • electronic balancing of the working shaft,
  • control using a hydraulic system based on a double-acting cylinder, which enables lateral displacement in the range of 0-40 cm.
  • thanks to the use of two (long wide-angled) PTO shafts, it is possible to work in any position without damaging the PTO shaft,
  • the suspension of the machine on pantographs enables numerous working positions.

Which flail mowers are included in the product range?

The range includes rear-side flail mowers KB14 with a 1.40 m working width and KB16 with a 1.65 m working width, as well as rear-front models KBT16 (1.65 m) and KBT18 (1.85 m).

What applications are the rear-side KB14 and KB16 models designed for?

They are designed for mowing behind and alongside the tractor, working around ditches, slopes and verges, and shredding grass, weeds and shrubs under conditions specified for the machine.

What tractor horsepower is required for the KB14 and KB16?

The minimum tractor power is approximately 50 HP for KB14 and 70 HP for KB16.

What tractor horsepower is required for the KBT16 and KBT18 models?

The catalogue specifies a minimum power requirement of approximately 60 HP for both models.

What PTO speed is required?

Flail mowers in this series operate at 540 rpm PTO speed. The rotor speed is approximately 1,950 rpm.

Is the rotor dynamically balanced?

Yes. The manufacturer's documentation specifies electronic balancing of the rotor.

Can the rear-side flail mowers operate on slopes?

Yes. The KB14 and KB16 models are designed to operate across a wide inclination range, from approximately -65° to 90°, in accordance with the operating manual and safe-use requirements.

What size of material can the KB14 and KB16 models shred?

The manufacturer specifies cutting grass, weeds and shrubs up to approximately 50 mm in diameter under moderate operating conditions on uncultivated land.

What is the lateral offset range of the flail mowers?

The KB14 and KB16 rear-side models have a hydraulic lateral offset of up to approximately 102 cm. The KBT16 and KBT18 rear-front models have a lateral offset of up to approximately 40 cm.

Which components help achieve thorough material shredding?

The mowers use flail hammers, a gauge roller and additional counter-knives inside the housing. The design is intended to provide effective shredding while maintaining a consistent working height.
